Challenge the boundaries of familiarity

I urgently want Radio 3 to play complete works rather than scrappy bits of works you think an audience might prefer. I see no reason why we should not have a broadcasting service that does not want to have huge audiences, does not reject difficult music or writing and has no interest in making money. That’s to say I want a BBC that isn’t trying to please, but to challenge the boundaries of familiarity. A BBC that doesn’t have any need to make a profit, but very much needs to offer the public that pays so little for it, an opening for new experience. The same goes for drama. The comfy can be provided by Radio 2. But I would like both TV and radio to present new and uneasy works. I would like the generosity and courage of The Wednesday play.
